10 ways to improve your health

  • Drink LOTS of water.  How much?  Half your body weight in ounces.
    (150 lbs = 75 ounces of water).
  • Take 100 deep breaths.  Choose times during the day when you can take a break and just BREATHE.
  • Eat a green leafy vegetable every day 
  • Eat good quality protein with every meal.  Meats free of animal by-products, lentils and beans, and protein powder in a smoothie are some great choices.
  • Get 20 minutes of sunlight every day
  • Cut out the sugar.  1 tsp of sugar decreases immune function for up to 5 hours.
  • Reduce the "bad" fat.  Increase the "good" fat.  Omega 3 essential fatty acids found in fish, fish oil and flax seeds are good fats. Anything fried is bad.
  • Fibre, fibre and more fibre.  Aim for 30 grams.  1 tbsp ground flax seeds has approximately 2 grams of fibre.
  • Good posture goes a long way to decreasing aches and pains.  Shoulders should be down and back when sitting.  When standing, your head, shoulders and hips should line up,  One comfortably above the other.
  • Do you have extended health coverage?  Use it!  Studies show that Registered Massage Therapy, Naturopathic treatment and Chiropractic care can decrease your risk of disease development.
