Janet was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, and took the "scenic route" before deciding on a career in massage therapy. During the seventies and early eighties, she attended universities in Ontario, Quebec and Normandy.

After obtaining degrees in French and Education, Janet moved to the Burlington area to accept a teaching position with the Halton Board of Education.

In 1984, Janet married Don Thorpe. Their son Dan was born 4 years later. Her family has benefitted from a long association with Burlington's YMCA and the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

After seventeen years of teaching, Janet enrolled in Canadian Therapeutic College's massage therapy program. She graduated in 2000, opened a practice in her Aldershot home and returned to teaching part-time.

In the intervening years, Janet has pursued further study in the areas of Strain-Counterstrain, Scapular Stretch and Rotator Cuff Release. She recently completed a course in Thermal Palms ® therapy, a type of heat treatment massage.

In June, 2007, Janet retired from teaching and three months later, joined Natural Care Clinic's team of health-care practitioners. She looks forward to assisting clients in achieving optimal health.
